We draw our greatest inspiration from the many things that have shaped our lives: from the emotion and sweetness in Van Lear Rose to almost anything else from Sid’s record collection, from the poignant words of Joan Didion to the wonderful strangeness of those of Italo Calvino, from Sally Benedict’s amazing splashes of color to the wildly minimal architecture of Calatrava. And we are of course inspired by women old and young — mothers, sisters, daughters, helpers who move the world along.
For us, it is less about fashion and more about style. It is about being thoughtful and curious and delighted by what you see around you, about simply loving what you have on.
In maintaining a highly edited assortment of classic pieces with a bit of fashion, we aim to make a woman’s life simpler by making getting dressed a joyful and effortless part of her day. Whether she is 16 or 82, we believe that a woman wants to go through her day feeling beautiful — and like herself.
This spirit we’ve sought to capture is expressed through combining iconic pieces with the design of our own products. Our experience as a designer and an editor has encouraged us to offer high-quality, authentic things not found together today — a collection of essential items offered from our perspective. We have traveled the world to design, make and buy the best product for the best price.
Since we opened in 2010 offering a feminine counterpoint to SID MASHBURN, we have wanted ANN MASHBURN to be a place where women can come and enjoy the experience of finding something they NEED (the perfect white shirt) or just something that they WANT (African beads in beautiful colors). We hope you find as much delight in our favorite things as we do in sharing them with you.
