During a summer working at their family vineyard in Bordeaux, husband-and-wife team Mathilde and Bertrand Thomas ran into a polyphenol specialist who casually mentioned the amazing antioxidant power and skincare potential of grapes. This led the Thomases to launch Caudalie, an eco-friendly, wine-derived, super-effective skincare line. (Dr. Vercauteren still serves as the brand's scientific advisor.) Over twenty years — and four medical patents — later, wine is still a major foundation of the brand. How big? Well, look at the name. A caudalie is the unit for measuring for how long a wine lingers in the mouth — one caudalie per second, and you start counting as soon as you sip.
