William Morrow The Daring Book for Girls

Andrea J. Buchanan & Miriam Peskowitz
This is a refreshing compendium of all those hallmarks of quintessential American girlhood (note-passing, the perfect cartwheel, friendship bracelets, the mystery of boys) that almost seems more useful in 2018 than ever. And not everything is stereotypically feminine, either. It also addresses letter-writing, whistling, common Spanish phrases, and negotiating a salary. Snapchat is not covered. We think that's a good thing. Anyway, this book is super-charming without talking down to its reader, and makes a great gift for girls of all ages, self-professed tomboys or not.
